FAQ

Nausea during hot yoga can be caused by a number of factors, including:

Dehydration: Not drinking enough water can make it difficult for your body to release heat through perspiration, which can lead to nausea and other unpleasant symptoms. Some recommend drinking around two liters of water for a 90-minute class. It’s also important to stay hydrated before class to increase the effectiveness of fluid replacement during exercise.

Overexertion: Challenging yoga practices like Ashtanga or Vinyasa can lead to overheating, which can make you feel sick. Strenuous workouts can also increase the risk of nausea, especially if you’re trying to do too much too soon.

Caffeine: Drinking too much caffeine can also trigger nausea.

Other tips to prevent dizziness and nausea during hot yoga include: Eating a small meal before class, Practicing in the afternoon or evening, Moving slowly, Keeping your head above your heart, and Taking a break in a cool place during class.
